The saying “Somebody Gotta Do It“ was coined mid-2014 as a #hashtag on social media by the Founder of SGDI Youssouph Ndiaye. Born in New York and raised in Senegal of West Africa, his goal has been to utilize social media as a way to inspire and influence his followers. This hashtag quickly propelled into a movement. Fast forward to June 1st. 2015, the “Somebody Gotta Do It“ By: Y&P clothing line was launched. SGDI was then rebranded into a Lifestyle Motivational Company. Youssouph encourages every person he meets to apply the brand message positively in any circumstance they may face and to follow any dreams and aspirations they may have in life. As we always say, “Somebody Gotta Do It” why not you?" Because if you don’t do it, someone else will! His goal is for all people to say this repeatedly because we believe that YOU CAN DO IT! The brand has now reached the 5 year mark in business. The success of the brand has a lot to do with current team members Shama Pierre and Eyram Tsikata. Together, the trio have been able to reach many milestones. Today “Somebody Gotta Do it” has a talk-show, mentoring program, scholarship program, and annual fashion shows. This team embodies, selflessness, teamwork and hard work, all of which speak to the demeanor and mindset that SGDI prides itself on advocating for.

First and foremost, anyone who purchases from or supports our brand is apart of the SGDI Family. With that being said, here at SGDI we do our best to ensure that our customers receive the best customer service experience. The following are SGDI practices in customer care:


If an individual would like to request a product exchange post-purchase, the request must be submitted within 48 hours from the time of the purchase. Additionally, The product should not have been worn, washed, or damaged. This policy applies solely  in cases of size changes when such sizes are available. If the aforementioned criteria are not met to the standards of the appropriate officers, exchanges will not transpire. To make this request, email

Order discrepancy:

If the received product was not the size, color, or product expected, email the receipt of your order within 24 hours of delivery. Once completed and confirmed, the order will be corrected appropriately, typically through a replacement or refund.

Damaged order:

If you received a damaged product, please photograph the damaged product while unpackaging the product in its original packaging, and email with the receipt attached. From there, appropriate measures will be taken to determine the nature of the product’s damaged and you will be notified if you qualify for an exchange. If qualified, you will have the option of receiving the same product or another of your choice of equal or lesser value on our website.

To conclude, due to the COVID -19 pandemic, post offices nationwide face staff shortages leading to an enormous delay with shipment. As a result, you may receive your order in a few days or a few weeks which is beyond company control.
